Use of the Site

You are granted a limited license to make personal use only of the site.

Submissions

Contributions are welcomed and we reserve the right to edit them. We take no responsibility and assume no liability for any content posted by you. By providing material through the interactive areas, through email to us or through letter post, you agree to grant Scotsoun Website a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license, with the right to sublicense, to reproduce, distribute, transmit, create derivative works of, publicly display and publicly perform any content you submit to the site by all means and in any media now known or hereafter developed. You also agree to indemnify, defend and hold Scotsoun Website from any claim and damages from any submissions by you or through your membership.

Editorial Guidelines

These guidelines will help you understand what we accept and do not accept for article and photographic submissions.

We accept:
  •  Articles, photographs and Forum submissions where there is reference to the local area including the people, clubs, businesses and organisations based in the local area. See the street map for the area we cover. Articles, photographs and Forum submissions must be your own work.
We do not accept:

  • Content that is unlawful, abusive, harassing, indecent, sexually suggestive, offensive or otherwise objectionable.
  • Unsubstantiated allegations. Content that damages the "fame, reputation and honour" of an individual, group, business or organisation by way of identifying them directly or indirectly and where we have no way of knowing that the fact of the matter is true.
  • Forum submission that insults people (flaming).
  • Links to websites with no reference to the local area (spamming). These are automatically rejected by our script because of the serious nature of this activity on the Internet where repeated submissions are common. A genuine submission to the forum can contain a relevant link by removing the "http://" part of the URL.
  • Forum submission to start trouble or an argument for its own end (trolling).
  • Comments on a persons spelling ability.
  • Personal information such as another persons present address. You can include your own personal details such as your email address or telephone number but please be aware that it becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information.
  • Copyrighted material that is not your own work such as newspaper articles.
  • Content likely to incite crime or disorder.
  • Content containing swearwords. These will automatically be edited in the forum by script to "****". This has the undesirable effect of editing part of a legitimate word.
  • Content promoting a particular belief.
Comments about moderation must be made by e-mail, not in the forum.
